MINSK, 23 March (BelTA) - Three-time Miami Open champion Victoria Azarenka of Belarus, currently ranked 186 in the world, moved into the third round of the Miami Open 2018 after clinching a 7-6 (7-5), 2-0 victory over U.S. world number 15 Madison Keys who had to retire due to a left thigh injury, BelTA informs.
Belarus' Aliaksandra Sasnovich, world number 46, lost to Russia's world number 25 Anastasiya Pavlyuchenkova 2-6, 6-3, 2-6.
Belarus' world number 60 Aryna Sabalenka will face Czech world number 9 Petra Kvitova.
In the men's doubles event Belarus' Max Mirnyi and Ryan Harrison of the United States will take on the Brazilian-UK tandem of Bruno Soares and Jamie Murray.
