MINSK, 9 February (BelTA) - Aryna Sabalenka will take on Tatjana Maria on the opening day of Belarus' Fed Cup tie against Germany at Chizhovka Arena on 10 February, BelTA has learned from the draw ceremony held at Minsk Town Hall on 9 February.
The second singles rubber on Saturday will feature Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus and Antonia Lottner of Germany. Sunday, 11 February, will feature two more singles rubbers: Aliaksandra Sasnovich vs Tatjana Maria, Aryna Sabalenka vs Antonia Lottner, and also doubles rubber where Vera Lapko and Lidziya Marozava will face Anna-Lena Friedsam and Anna-Lena Groenefeld. Under the Fed Cup rules, team captains Eduard Dubrou and Jens Gerlach may introduce substitutions after the first matchday.
Belarus' 2018 Fed Cup World Group first round tie against Germany will be broadcast live on Belarus 5 TV channel.
The winner of the Minsk tie will face either the Czech Republic or Switzerland on 21-22 April. This weekend will feature two more Fed Cup quarterfinal ties: France will take on Belgium, while the United States will face the Netherlands.
This season the Belarusians defeated the Netherlands 4-1 and Switzerland 3-2 to reach the final where were edged by the United States 2-3.
