Applications for 2019 European Games opening and closing ceremony themes open until 15 May

MINSK, 13 March (BelTA) - Applications for the songs of the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2019 European Games in Belarus are open until 15 May 2018, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Culture Ministry.

This will be a second competition. The first one was recognized invalid as the submitted songs did not meet the objectives of the contest.

The songs should reveal the theme of the unity of peoples, peaceful sport competition, Belarus' hospitality, the sincerity and warmth of the host of the Second European Games. The competition is aimed at unearthing and supporting talented youth, involving a wide circle of authors in the development of the creative content for the European Games, creating new music compositions that could be performed at the opening and closing ceremonies of the games.

Music and (or) lyrics can be written by Belarusian residents, foreign citizens and stateless persons who live permanently in Belarus.

Those willing to participate in the competition need to send an application and materials (an audio recording of the song, the musical notation of the song, and the lyrics in Russian, Belarusian and English) to the postal or electronic address of the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society (50 Nezavisimosti Avenue, Minsk, 220005; e-mail: philharmonic@tut.by. Contact person – Kseniya Kokhan, phone: +375 17 284 45 34). A participant can send no more than two songs, each 3 minutes long and written for solo and collective performance.

The jury will decide on the winning songs during the second qualifying round. The winners will get special diplomas and money prizes of 100, 70 and 50 base amounts (one base amount is Br24.5).

The competition has been organized by the Culture Ministry, the Directorate for the Second European Games 2019, and the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society.
