Alina Talay second in Dusseldorf

MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) – Alina Talay of Belarus opened the new season on a good note finishing second at the 2017 IAAF World Indoor Tour meeting in Dusseldorf, BelTA has learned.

In the 60m Hurdles final Alina Talay clocked 7.95 seconds to cross the finish line simultaneously with Cindy Roleder of Germany. The photo finish decided on the winner. “The competition with Roleder is becoming a tradition. We finished at one time with the German, but I was the second. Anyway I am happy with my start,” noted Alina Talay.

Bronze went to German Pamela Dutkiewicz (7.99 seconds). Alina Talay's teammate Elvira German clocked 8.28 seconds (12th best time) in the qualifying round.

In the 800m event Belarus' Marina Arzamasova finished fourth in 2:03.10. Joanna Jozwik of Poland won the race in 2:00.91. Selina Buechel of Switzerland was second, clocking 2:02.52. Anita Hinriksdottir of Iceland came in third (2:02.64).

The IAAF World Indoor Tour meeting in Karlsruhe starts on 4 February.
