MINSK, 23 March (BelTA) – World number 120 Aleksandra Sasnovich of Belarus fought through France's World No.44 Alize Cornet 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 to advance to the Miami Open round two, BelTA has learned.
The game lasted for two hours and 37 minutes.
The Belarusian will next face World No.11 Johanna Konta of the UK. Aleksandra Sasnovich reached the Miami Open main draw after beating Bulgaria's world number 141 Elitsa Kostova 6-2, 0-6, 6-2 and seeing off World No.73 Magda Linette of Poland 6-4, 6-2 in the qualifying.
Victoria Azarenka of Belarus won the Miami Open last year.
Belarus' Max Mirnyi and Treat Huey of the Philippines will play fourth seeded Jamie Murray of the UK and Bruno Soares of Brazil in the men's doubles opener.
