MINSK, 12 April (BelTA) - Aleksandra Sasnovich of Belarus has advanced into the round of last 16 at the Ladies Open Biel Bienne in Switzerland, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian world number 108 defeated Pauline Parmentier of France (World No.64) 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 on 11 April. Aleksandra Sasnovich had to go through the qualifying round.
Vera Lapko of Belarus (World No.264) opened the tournament in Turkey's Istanbul on a good note, seeing off Slovakia's world number 169 Viktoria Kuzmova 6-2, 6-3.
The two tournaments are a general rehearsal for the Belarusian tennis players ahead of the Fed Cup semifinal that is due to take place in Minsk on 22-23 April.
