2019/2020 Speed Skating World Cup season to kick off in Minsk

MINSK, 11 September (BelTA) – The first event on the 2019/2020 Speed Skating World Cup calendar will take place in Minsk, Belarus on 15-17 November, BelTA learned from press officer of the competitions Natalya Alyokhina.

Olympic champions and medalists, many-time world champions will compete for medals at Minsk Arena.

Athletes will include Russia's Pavel Kulizhnikov and Japan's Tatsuya Shinhama. In March 2019, the Japanese athlete beat the record set by Pavel Kulizhnikov. Very soon the Russian athlete returned the title of the world's record holder.

Competing in Minsk will also be many-time world champion Brittany Bowe of the United States and five-time Olympic champion Ireen Wust of the Netherlands.

The Belarusian national team will feature Maryna Zuyeva, Ignat Golovatsiuk and Vitaly Mikhailov.
