13 medals for Belarus at 2018 ICF Canoe Sprint Junior and U23 World Championships

MINSK, 31 July (BelTA) – Belarus clinched 13 medals at the 2018 ICF Canoe Sprint Junior and U23 World Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Sports and Tourism Ministry.

Belarus won four gold medals. Kirill Smolyanik and Vladislav Litvinov took gold in K2 1000 event. Gold also went to Denis Potapenko in C1 1000 event. Olga Klimova and Nadezhda Makarchenko were victorious in the C2 200 and C2 500 events. Belarusian athletes also won three silver and six bronze medals.

Belarus placed 4th in the overall team standings. Hungary topped the chart with 16 (10 gold, 4 silver, 2 bronze) medals. Second was Canada with 6 (5 gold and 1 bronze) medals. Third place was occupied by Germany with 14 (4 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze) medals. Taking part in the competitions were athletes from 67 countries.
