Organizing Committee discusses Belarus' preparation for European Games MINSK 2019

Preparation of Belarusian athletes for the 2nd European Games MINSK 2019 was discussed during a meeting of the national organizing committee for the games under the chairmanship of Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov.

The program of the event includes competitions in cycling, track-and-field athletics, kayaking and canoeing. The event will take place in the run-up to the European Games MINSK 2019 and the 100th anniversary of the Polish Olympic Committee.

The leader of the Belarusian national team beat Samuel Novota 3-1 and Lubomir Pistej 3-2. Pavel Platonov added another point seeing off Samuel Novota 3-1. Pavel Platonov lost to Lubomir Pistej 0-3, and Alexander Khanin lost to Alexander Valuch 2-3.

In Nuremberg, Lidziya Marozava of Belarus and Lesley Kerkhove of the Netherlands beat Russia's Anastasia Komardina and Mandy Minella of Luxembourg 6-2, 3-6, 10-7 to reach the quarterfinal.

Belarus has ranked 14th with 3085 points in the new IIHF men's rankings.Canada (3990 points) tops the rankings released following the 2018 IIHF World Championship, where Canada lost the bronze medal game to the United States.

The Belarusian clocked 12.74 seconds in the 100m Hurdles race. Second came in Isabelle Pedersen of Norway (13.03 seconds). Alicia Barrett of the UK was third (13.42 seconds).

Belarus' Lapko wins 2018 Engie Open Saint-Gaudens, climbs to 77th in WTA rankings

Last week ahead of the 2018 Engie Open Saint-Gaudens Occitanie start in France the Belarusian was 93rd in the world. After winning the tournament Vera Lapko jumped up to the 77th with 787 points.
