In the Hungarian capital Belarus' world number 128 Vera Lapko lost to Roberta Vinci of Italy (World No.168) 1-6, 7-6 (8-6), 3-6. In the opener Vera Lapko saw off Lesley Kerkhove (166) of the Netherlands 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.

Belarus will field Nadezhda Skardino, Darya Domracheva, Sergei Bocharnikov and Vladimir Chepelin. The race is scheduled to start at 14.15 Minsk time on 20 February.

Darya Domracheva secures silver in Olympic Women's Mass Start

The PyeongChang silver is Darya Domracheva's fifth Olympic medal. Apart from her three gold medals won in Sochi in 2014, she also has bronze of Vancouver 2010. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko congratulated Darya Domracheva on her vice-champion title.

The Belarusian athlete finished in 7:04:41 in the longest Olympic speed skating distance for women. The Olympic debutant has certainly made some progress in Pyeongchang: she was 11th in the 3,000m speed skating and was disqualified after the 1,500m event.
