Zika case detected in Myanmar

YANGON, 28 October (BelTA - Xinhua) - A Zika case has been detected in Myanmar's Yangon, the state radio confirmed on Thursday.

A 32-year-old foreign woman has tested positive for the Zika virus, the radio quoted health authorities as saying.

The Zika virus is spread mostly by Aedes mosquito and those infected suffer flu-like symptoms. It can be passed from a pregnant woman to her fetus, and infection during pregnancy can result in birth defects, including microcephaly.
