Youth of Belarus, Czechia seek to scale up interregional contacts

MINSK, 15 October (BelTA) – The youth of Belarus and Czechia will step up cooperation at the regional level, BelTA learned from Secretary of the BRSM Youth Union Central Committee Aleksandra Goncharova.

Upon the invitation of the Czech side, an official delegation of the BRSM Youth Union took part in the annual forum of the youth wing of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia that took place in the town of Predni Vyton in the South Bohemian Region of Czechia.

“During this visit the BRSM Youth Union presented its agenda, with a focus on international contacts. A memorandum of cooperation was signed by the youth wing of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia and the BRSM Youth Union during the forum. This document sets forth forms and areas of bilateral cooperation and the agenda of joint activities in the future. Apart from that, it was agreed that a youth delegation of Czechia will return a visit to Belarus in 2019, which is expected to boost contacts between Belarusian and Czech young people at the regional level. We are convinced that such cooperation is another step in promoting international contacts between the youth of Belarus and European countries,” Aleksandra Goncharova said.

Top on the agenda of the forum was the youth policy of the government. “We are interested in establishing partner relations with our European counterparts who, just like BRSM, are willing to implement new joint projects. We met not only with representatives of Czechia's regional youth organization, but also high-ranking officials, including Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament Vojtech Filip, European Parliament member representing the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia Katerina Konecna and Head of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia's Department of International and Security Policy Jaroslav Roman,” Aleksandra Goncharova said.

A number of seminars, debates and presentations were held on the sidelines of the forum. Apart from that, delegates took part in a training session to study innovative forms of using the Internet and social media in communicating with the youth.
