WorldSkills Belarus regional round kicks off in Minsk Oblast

MINSK, 22 November (BelTA) – A regional round of the WorldSkills Belarus nationwide competition of professional skills kicked off in Minsk Oblast, BelTA learned from the education department of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee.

The Borisov State Construction Professional Lyceum is hosting the Wall and Floor Tiling skill competition. The participants are students of the Borisov State Construction Professional Lyceum, the Luban agricultural vocational school, Molodechno State College, Slutsk State Agricultural Professional Lyceum, Soligorsk State College and Cherven Vocational Construction Lyceum. The panel of jury is composed of processional experts, representatives of the relevant industries.

The schedule of the WorldSkills Belarus regional round has been announced.

For example, the Carpentry skill competition will be held at the Molodechno State College on 28 November; the Stonemasonry competition at the Soligorsk State College on 14 December. Three days of the contest will take place at the beginning of the year 2018. The Welding event will be hosted by the Zhodino Vocational Lyceum (24 January), Hairdressing by the Borisov State College in Borisov (1 February), Cooking by the Slutsk State College (7 February).

The winners of the regional round will take part in the WorldSkills Belarus national competition as part of the Minsk Oblast team.

The WorldSkills Belarus competition of professional skills debuted in 2014. In January 2014 Belarus became the 68th member of the international non-profit association WorldSkills International (WSI). The mission of the organization is to raise the status and standards of skills and learning throughout the world. The main task of the WSI is to organize international competitions of professional skill. The National Institute for Vocational Education is the WorldSkills' national operator in Belarus.
