Website on Belarus' progress in SDGs to go online in 2018

MINSK, 19 July (BelTA) – A website providing information on Belarus' progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals will be launched before the end of 2018, National Coordinator for SDGs, Vice Speaker of the Council of the Republic Marianna Shchetkina said in an interview to Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“We do not have a body to collect all the information and develop a portal to store it for others to study, enrich, and verify,” said Marianna Shchetkina. “This work is coordinated by our statistics committee, and it is expected to develop such a national portal by the end of the year,” she added.

Many countries are working on the development of such websites. “When they become available in all states, it will be possible to visit them and receive the necessary information,” the national coordinator noted.

Marianna Shchetkina added that effective measures have been taken in Belarus to systematize efforts on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. All 17 SDGs have been divided and assigned to the state bodies. “Everyone knows the zone of their responsibility,” she said.

“It is also very important that we move from the national to the regional level and develop targets for every oblast and the city of Minsk. The National Statistics Committee of Belarus is working on it,” Marianna Shchetkina said.
