MINSK, 3 January (BelTA) – Volunteers will provide translation, interpretation and communication support to medical staff during the 2nd European Games 2019 in Minsk, head of the Minsk First-Aid Station, chief external expert for emergency medical care of the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry Alexander Zhinko has told the STV TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“Our staff will coordinate the provision of medical services at all sports facilities where athletes will compete and train. Therefore, we purchased new vehicles, equipment, new sets of scrubs. Some of our specialists know foreign languages, but, unfortunately, they are few. Therefore, all ambulance teams will be assisted by volunteers,” Alexander Zhinko said.
He added that by now first aid teams have everything they need to offer highly professional medical assistance.
Minsk will host the 2nd European Games on 21-30 June 2019. Over 4,000 athletes from 50 countries will compete in 199 medal events in 15 sports. Competitions in nine sports will serve as qualifiers for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
