Volunteer enrollment for Junior Eurovision 2018 in Minsk extended till 25 August

MINSK, 3 August (BelTA) – The deadline for submitting volunteer applications for the Junior Song Contest 2018 in Minsk has been extended till 25 August, BelTA learned from Secretary of the Central Committee of the BRSM Youth Union Alexandra Goncharova.

About 300 applications have already been received. “These are mostly students, including foreign ones. The deadline for submitting applications has been extended to enable more people to send their applications. There are holidays now. Many young people work at student construction brigades or spend time abroad. We plan to select 100 volunteers,” she noted.

All volunteers will be trained and interviewed. “Working with people is always tough. We plan to organize foreign language courses, stress resistance training and provide them with detailed information about landmarks of Minsk and Belarus so that they will be able to hold excursions for delegations from various countries,” she said.

The first meeting with candidates seeking to become volunteers will take place in Gorky Park in Minsk on 6 August. Taking part in this open-air gathering will about 70 activists of the BRSM Youth Union and Belarus' representatives at the Junior Eurovision of different years. Volunteers will take part in teambuilding sessions, interactive training and a dance battle. Young people will be able to submit their applications in situ. Applications can be filled in and submitted online. The application form is available on the BRSM website and in the VK group Volunteers of Belarus.

As BelTA reported earlier, BRSM announced a call for volunteers in early July. Volunteers will assist foreign delegations, technical and creative personnel under the auspices of the Belarusian State TV and Radio Company. Candidates should meet the following requirements: they should be aged 18-31 years, have good communication skills, a good command of English; knowledge of several foreign languages will be an asset.

BRSM has extensive experience of working at large-scale international events. Youth activists worked at information centers of Minsk, hotels and the Fan Village during the 2014 IIHF World Championship in Minsk, provided assistance during the 2015 Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships in Minsk and were engaged in the events of the 46th General Assembly of European Olympic Committees.

The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018 will take place in Belarus on 25 November. The event is organized by the National State TV and Radio Company that is the country's only member of the European Broadcasting Union.
