Vitebsk Oblast, Russia's Pskov Oblast eager to take cooperation to new heights

VITEBSK, 13 July (BelTA) – The administrations of Vitebsk Oblast and Russia's Pskov Oblast intend to work out a joint action program for the next year. The program is supposed to advance cooperation between the two regions to a new level. The relevant statement was made by Pskov Oblast First Vice Governor Vera Yemelyanova as she met with Chairman of the Vitebsk Oblast Council of Deputies Vladimir Terentyev in Vitebsk on 13 July, BelTA has learned.

Cooperation between Vitebsk Oblast and Russia's Pskov Oblast advances vigorously in every area. For instance, most of the districts of the Russian region have signed partnership agreements with Vitebsk Oblast districts, noted Vera Yemelyanova. Today it is necessary to discuss cooperation measures for the year 2019, including cooperation in healthcare, social security, employment, youth policy, and other spheres for the sake of raising living standards for residents of the two regions. The proposals to be worked out during the meeting in Vitebsk will make the foundation of the updated agreement on cooperation between Vitebsk Oblast and Pskov Oblast and the joint action program for the next year. The documents may be signed as early as autumn 2018, believes Vera Yemelyanova.

Upon the initiative of the Russian side the social package of measures will include projects relating to studying the Belarusian experience of dealing with HR problems in the healthcare system. “As for education, we are interested in learning how work with gifted children is organized in Belarus. We would like to talk about the development of the supplementary education system. I hope it will be reflected in the tentative joint action plan,” specified Vera Yemelyanova. Besides, the Russian side intends to discuss a number of patriotic initiatives and the invigoration of contacts between youth organizations of Vitebsk Oblast and Pskov Oblast.
