The pontiff's possible visit to Belarus was discussed during the meeting as well. “I can say that we have discussed this, too. We are working hard to make the visit happen,” said Archbishop Gabor Pinter.
According to the hierarch, the Pope impressed him with his knowledge of the situation in the country. “The Pope is well aware of the situation in Belarus. Of course, I knew about it as we talked after my appointment last year, and I had an opportunity to see that he knows the things well. This time, however, I was impressed with his profound knowledge. He is closely following the developments in Belarus,” said the Apostolic Nuncio.
While there are the issues that need to be addressed, the relations between Belarus and the Holy See can be named perfect, he added.
