United States interested in strengthening cooperation with Belarus against cybercrime

MINSK, 15 June (BelTA) – The Investigative Committee of Belarus is grateful to the U.S. colleagues for assistance with investigating transnational crimes, Chairman of the Investigative Committee Ivan Noskevich said as he met with Charge d'affaires of the United States to Belarus Robert Riley, BelTA learned from the website of the Investigative Committee.

Ivan Noskevich stressed the importance of the interaction between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries in pre-trial criminal proceedings. He thanked the U.S. side for the assistance with the investigation of crimes, especially transnational ones.

Robert Riley confirmed the interest of the United States in further strengthening of all-round cooperation between Belarusian and U.S. law enforcers, placing a special emphasis on combating cybercrime, violations of intellectual property rights, and trafficking in human beings.

The parties also considered steps that can be taken to intensify the ties between the personnel of the Investigative Committee of Belarus and the competent U.S. agencies in the enforcement of criminal law.

Ivan Noskevich and Robert Riley agreed to continue the practice of holding working meetings and expert consultations to discuss the most topical issues related to combating crime.
