Unhackable PC under development in Belarus

MINSK, 13 March (BelTA) – Belarus' R&D institute NIIEVM and the research and production center NPK Positron (St. Petersburg) are working on an unhackable personal computer VM2016 on the basis of Russian microprocessor Elbrus-4S, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian State Military Industrial Committee.

The new product is basically a full-function 17-inch LCD laptop. It is designed to protect information processing systems from unauthorized access and prevent them from information leaks caused by electromagnetic radiation.

VM2016 can be operated in harsh weather conditions and withstand rapid changes in temperature from -40C to 50C. The laptop case is made from aluminum alloy which protects the PC from mechanical and climate impact and helps install it outdoors, indoors, in vehicles on wheeled and tracked chassis, in rail transport, at stationary and mobile waterborne coast-based facilities.

The product is currently being tested at the customer's request. The launch of serial production is scheduled for H2 2018.
