Truck throughput of Polish, Latvian checkpoints at Belarusian border still below agreed numbers

MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) – Over the last 24 hours the Polish side and the Latvian side completely failed to honor agreements concerning truck passage across the border, the State Border Committee of Belarus told BelTA.

The failure of neighboring countries to process the number of trucks bilateral agreements specify continues having an effect on the congestion of trucks in front of Belarusian border crossings. At present 1,120 semi-trucks are waiting for their turn to leave Belarus for the European Union.

The bilateral agreements specify how many trucks a border checkpoint is supposed to let through over a certain period of time. The lowest percentage of 36% was registered at the Lithuanian border checkpoint Medininkai (Kamenny Log on the Belarusian side) while the highest percentage of 106% was registered at the Lithuanian border checkpoint Tverecius (Vidzy on the Belarusian side).

Trucks could leave Belarus for Ukraine without problems.
