Tourists invited to ride 220-tonne BelAZ truck in Belarus

MINSK, 14 August (BelTA) – Tourists will be able to take a ride on a haul truck with the carrying capacity of 220 tonnes in Belarus, BelTA learned from representatives of the Belarusian truck-making company BelAZ.

In addition to looking at a manufacturing factory in operation up close tourists will be able to see how haul trucks, which are as high as a three-story house, are made and will be able to ride in the cabin of the 220-tonne truck 6m above the ground level. They will also be able to buy a special certificate in memory of the heavy-duty truck ride.

Tourists are also invited to get some basic driving skills using a dynamic truck driving simulator and test their driving skills afterwards. The simulator can realistically reproduce a real road in a 7D mode with tunable weather. If the newbie driver comes across a bump on the road, he or she will surely feel it inside the simulator.

The industrial tourism project has been in progress at BelAZ for two years already. More than 36,000 people from 27 countries have enjoyed the opportunity to visit the Belarusian company in this period.

OAO BelAZ, the managing company of the holding company BelAZ, is the world's largest manufacturer of haul trucks with large and extreme carrying capacities. The company also makes other kinds of heavy transportation solutions, which come in handy in mining industry and in civil engineering.
