Tourist signs in Minsk translated into Chinese

MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) – A total of 55 tourist oriented destination signs in Minsk have been translated into the Chinese language, BelTA has learned from Elena Plis, director of the Information and Tourist Center Minsk.

These signs are situated in the Upper Town, the Trinity Suburb, Privokzalnaya Square, Yakuba Kolasa Square, the surroundings of the Nemiga river, Nezavisimosti Avenue, Komarovsky Rynok marketplace.

“We are introducing a concept of spatial orientation for pedestrians in Minsk. Specialists from the Information and Tourist Center Minsk and the Belarusian Association of Transport Experts and Surveyors have translated names of tourist sites and streets into the Chinese language. We have also published advertising and information booklets Attractions Minsk and Things to Do in Minsk,” Elena Plis said.

She noted that the tourism website www.minsktourism.by now runs a section for Chinese tourists with all necessary information about the city and the visa-free program. Minsk's tourism industry was presented at the International Mayors' Forum on Tourism in China's Zhengzhou and China International Import Expo in Shanghai which also hosted the Belarus-China Business Forum to discuss regional cooperation between the two countries.

In September 2017, Belarus welcomed the first organized group of Chinese tourists for a six-day tour. The year 2018 was declared the Year of Belarus' Tourism in China. “In 2019, we will proceed with the concept of spatial orientation and introduce more signs in Chinese,” Elena Plis added.
