Tourism development prospects to be discussed during 14th Gomel Economic Forum

GOMEL, 18 May (BelTA) – Prospects of developing tourism in the region will be discussed by participants of the 14th Gomel Economic Forum on 19 May, BelTA learned from Denis Yezersky, Head of the Sport and Tourism Office of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee.

Prospects of developing tourism in the region will be discussed during a dedicated panel session. Taking part in the session will be representatives of government agencies and business circles of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan. Before the session investors will be made familiar with the tourism potential of the region. On 18 May participants of the event are expected to visit the farm tourism estate Ozernoye and the Chebotovichi folk arts center where Belarusian traditions and peculiarities of everyday life in the region are represented. Prospects of developing industrial tourism will be discussed during a tour of Rogachev Milk Canning Plant. Potential investors will be able to get to know capabilities of Belarusian health resorts during a tour of the Pridneprovsky sanatorium. Highlights of Gomel Oblast's history will be revealed during a tour of the Gomel palace and park complex, a memorial complex at the site of a former concentration camp, and the Kozel-Poklevskikh farm tourism estate in the village of Krasny Bereg, Zhlobin District.

A presentation of more than 20 investment proposals in the sphere of sport, tourism, culture, recreation, entertainment, education, and healthcare will take place as part of the panel session itself. The proposals include the establishment of a center for active recreation in Gomel, a motorway service outlet in the village of Strenki, Rogachev District, a museum and tourism complex based on the homestead and park complex in the village of Khalch, Vetka District, and other ones.

The panel session on prospects of developing tourism in Gomel Oblast will end with the signing of cooperation documents. The Olympic reserve center of Zhlobin is expected to sign an agreement on cooperation and assistance with the development of business contacts with the Ukrainian company Kaerem Sids.

Denis Yezersky noted that a number of investment projects for reconstructing hotels in Gomel and Zhlobin were implemented in Gomel Oblast over the last five years. The official underscored that the implementation of two more investment projects continues. The relevant paperwork was signed during previous economic forums. One of the projects provides for building a hotel complex and the infrastructure and arranging fish breeding for the sake of selling fishing as pastime to individuals in the village of Zhelezniki, Vetka District. The other project provides for building the tourism complex Slavyansky Mir near the water reservoir Mikhailovskoye in Gomel District.
