Support for talented young people on Union State agenda

SOCHI, 17 October (BelTA) – Development a program of support for talented young people is on the agenda of the Belarus-Russia Union State, Belarus Education Minister Igor Karpenko, BelTA has learned.

Such a program was discussed during a meeting of the Belarusian minister and senior officials of the Sirius education center. The joint program will be discussed during a joint session of the education ministries of Belarus and Russia which will take place before the end of the year. “Maybe we will file a joint application for the program on talented youth of the Union State,” Igor Karpenko noted.

The Belarusian delegation visited the biochemical, IT, aerospace labs in the Sirius education center. It was set up in 2014 to discover young telnets and to provide professional support to gifted young people from all regions of Russia. Igor Karpenko noted that Belarus has also gained serious experience in this area: there are two special funds of the president to support talented youth in the country.

According to Igor Karpenko, Belarus is interested in the activities of the center, including in part of its coordinating role to ensure that gifted and talented young people stay on the radar in the future after receiving grants.
