MINSK, 2 March (BelTA) – Belarus' latest defense products will be showcased during the Langkawi international maritime and aerospace exhibition LIMA 2017, BelTA learned from the website of the State Defense Industries Committee of Belarus.
The LIMA 2017 expo is scheduled to take place in the Langkawi archipelago, Malaysia on 21-25 March. The event has been organized under the auspices of the Malaysian Defense Ministry every two years for 26 years now.
This year's expo is expected to gather about 350 companies from 36 countries and some 400,000 visitors. An extensive business program will be arranged. Bilateral meetings with top officers of the Malaysian army, representatives of defense contractors and customers will be part of the business program.
Belarusian companies intend to demonstrate samples of defense products and military hardware, which enjoy the strongest demand in the region. The collective stand will be organized by the Belarusian defense products exporter Belspetsvneshtechnika.
The Belarusian collective stand will feature state-of-the-art defense technologies and will demonstrate the ability of the Belarusian defense industry to design and make robots, aircraft components, modern radio location solutions, radio communication suppression systems, optical and optic-electronic products, information display systems for rough conditions, and the ability to profoundly modernize air defense missile systems.
Products made by Belspetsvneshtechnika, KB Radar, and KB Display will be showcased in the collective stand.
The Belarusian company OAO 558 Aircraft Repair Plant will arrange a stand of its own. It will be the sixth time the Belarusian company takes part in the expo. The Baranovichi-based company will demonstrate a broad range of unmanned aerial vehicles. The products on display will include tactical aircraft-type drones (Berkut, Kondor, and Moskit) and quadcopter-type drones with vertical takeoff (Shershen), the radar countermeasure system Satellit as well as over 20 titles of aircraft components the company makes.
The radar countermeasure system Satellit is designed to protect individual installations from high-precision radio-controlled weapons such as missiles with radar-homing heads. The Satellit system will jam all the radars of the aggressor automatically. The reliability of the Belarusian product is way higher than that of foreign competitors. The Belarusian system does not require special tools for maintenance on the ground.
KB Radar, the managing company of the holding company Radar Systems, will present modern radars powered by digital technologies. The three-dimensional radar Vostok-3D and the radio location complex Rosa-RB boast improved mobility and are designed to control air space along the entire length of the state border.
KB Radar will also demonstrate a unique radio communication suppression station Groza (VHF band) and the Groza-S radio warfare station, which is designed to combat unmanned aerial vehicles. The Groza-S radio warfare station relies on spoofing technologies for disrupting communication channels between the drone and the operator.
The Groza-S radio warfare station can detect any drones that transmit data. It can suppress control links and data communication links. Apart from that, the Belarusian product can send fake GPS data to the drone in order to take over flight control functions.
Belspetsvneshtechnika intends to present scale models of the air defense missile systems Pechora 2BM and Kub, a training simulator for the shoulder-launched air defense missile system Igla as well as optical and optic-electronic products.
The Belarusian defense contractor KB Display will showcase information display devices (standalone display modules and helmet-mounted display systems) and the computerized remote-controlled observation and fire control complex ADUNOK.
Nowadays most of the countries in the Asian-Pacific region face problems with security of their lengthy coastlines and the aquatic areas in multiple islands and archipelagoes. They are on the lookout for solutions to modernize their aircraft fleet and radio location systems. They take a close interest in designs of surface combat and patrol ships and motor boats.
Previous LIMA expos demonstrated their excellence at showcasing and promoting cutting-edge aerospace and navy products and technologies in Malaysia and the entire Asian-Pacific region.
The State Defense Industries Committee of Belarus (the State Military Industrial Committee) runs over 20 major defense enterprises and companies of the country and coordinates the operation of about 140 enterprises and organizations, which are licensed to develop, manufacture, upgrade, and repair defense products. More than 80 of the enterprises and organizations are licensed for foreign trade operations involving military-purpose products.
