Ski season begins in Grodno Oblast

MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) – A new ski season began in the active recreation park Korobchitsky Olimp near Grodno, BelTA learned from Viktor Shumel, director of the central sports center Neman.

According to Viktor Shumel, the park will prepare a tubing hill for the visitors. Korobchitsky Olimp will be open on workdays from 15:00 till 23:00, on Fridays from 15:00 till 2:00, and on weekends from 11:00 till 23:00. A ski slope pass will cost from Br8 to Br12 depending on the weekday (from Br3 to Br5 for the tubing hill). Discounts will be offered to kids under 12 and adults over 60.

The equipment will be available for rental, including over 250 sets of ski equipment and over 100 inner tubes. Last year, the ski resort welcomed over 10,000 visitors. The season opened a year earlier in 2017, though. The place, however, is becoming more and more popular among the citizens. This is why the center expects to receive even more guests this year.

Korobchitsky Olimp will host an event timed to the World Snow Day on 21 January. Those who want to take part in the competitions and claim the champion title should gather a 4-strong team and come to the park with sleds. The park will see relays, snowball-throwing and skiing competitions, sled races with obstacles, and lots of other funny contests.

The figure skating season also began in Grodno Oblast. There will be over 300 ice skating and ice hockey rinks in the region; the equipment will be available in around 50 rental shops. There are plans to make over 100 ski runs with a length of more than one kilometer.
