Skaryna's Little Travel Book to go on display in Polotsk

VITEBSK, 31 August (BelTA) – The original Little Travel Book printed by Francysk Skaryna will go on display during the Belarusian Written Language Day in Polotsk, BelTA learned from the press service of Belgazprombank.

The international exhibition project Along Skaryna's Road Together Belgazprombank will open at the Belarusian Printing Museum on 1 September. The main draw of the show is the original Little Travel Book (published in Vilna around 1522) from Belgazprombank's corporate collection.

The documentary “Francysk Skaryna. Man of the World” made by Oleg Lukashevich specially for the project will make part of the exhibition. An info-kiosk will provide comprehensive information about the life of the first printer. Visitors will be offered to make a virtual tour of Skaryna's printing shop which was recreated based on the printing house of the 17th -18th centuries recreated by the Belarusian Printing Museum.

The exhibition will be running till 10 September.

The international exhibition project Along Skaryna's Roads Together with Belgazprombank celebrating the the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian printing travels around the cities associated with the life of Belarusian and Eastern printing pioneer Francysk Skaryna. It premiered at the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania in Vilnius and was open there from 4 May till 4 June. After Polotsk the project will move to Kaliningrad where Skaryna lived on the invitation of Prussian Hertzog Albert of Brandenburg in 1529-2530.

Belgazprombank CEO Viktor Babariko said that Belgazprombank's project emphasizes the strong links connecting all the European states and highlights the historical unity of the cultures of the countries of Europe.
