MOSCOW, 19 June (BelTA) – Belarusian specialists can take part in NPP construction projects abroad, Belarus Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko said at the Atomexpo forum in Moscow, BelTA has learned.

“Many Rosatom's potential partners have said it openly to us that they would want our major construction companies (Gomelpromstroi, Grodnopromstroi, and others) participate in construction projects in other countries. It is important for us. We should be able to sell our services abroad. Therefore, if we decide that the contractual conditions are acceptable we will participate,” Vladimir Semashko said.

“I think, our specialists can work successfully in other countries,” the vice premier noted.

The Belarusian nuclear power plant is a project to build a new-generation nuclear power plant with two VVER-1200 type reactors (1,200MW each) 18km away from Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast. The first power-generating unit is scheduled for commissioning in 2019, with the second one to go online in 2020.
