MINSK, 24 November (BelTA) – As many as 22 apartment houses will be built in various parts of Belarus as part of the second stage of the project for building public welfare homes using China's technical and economic aid, BelTA learned from Belarusian First Deputy Architecture and Construction Minister Alexander Kruchanov on 24 November.

According to the source, Belarus and China are implementing a project for building public welfare homes using China's technical and economic aid. The first stage has been completed, with 1,432 apartments built in 16 houses in Brest Oblast, Vitebsk Oblast, Gomel Oblast, Grodno Oblast, and Mogilev Oblast. The first stage took about two years to implement. “During the second stage, which began today, 22 apartment houses with 1,854 apartments will be built. Plans have been made for the third stage, too,” said Alexander Kruchanov. As many as 20 houses and 1,058 apartments will be built during the third stage.

A ceremony to launch the second stage of the public welfare housing construction project took place in Smolevichi, Minsk Oblast on 24 November. A time capsule was buried at the construction site where a seven-story building will rise.

The Belarusian-Chinese public welfare housing construction project envisages building 58 apartment houses in Minsk and the regions in three stages. The People's Republic of China intends to allocate about ¥700 million ($102 million) for it.
