MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) – Sanitary precautions have been increased in the Minsk National Airport due to the introduction of the visa-free travels for foreign citizens, BelTA learned from Nelli Gindyuk, Head Physician of the Minsk City Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology, on 27 February.

According to the official, an action plan has been put together to prevent infectious diseases of international importance from penetrating the country. Personnel of the customs service, the border service, the veterinary and phytosanitary services, and travel agencies will receive additional training with regard to sanitary protection measures.

At present sanitary and quarantine control procedures for passengers and aircraft crews at the Minsk National Airport are organized using remote body temperature measurements. In January-February as many as 117,000 passengers and 9,000 crew members went through the sanitary and quarantine control procedures. Exercises are arranged to practice how all the agencies concerned will respond to the detection of people suspected of carrying infectious diseases.
