Andrei Knorr and Grodno Oblast First Deputy Chairman Ivan Zhuk signed a memorandum of understanding on the participation of Grodno specialists in the designing and construction projects for agricultural purposes in Tomsk Oblast.

The matter, first of all, pertains to the construction of new commercial dairy farms. It is expected that Grodnooblselstroi specialists will be mainly involved in the work. The signing of the documents was the result of the visit of the Tomsk Oblast delegation to Grodno Oblast to get familiar with its agro-industrial complex.

“Our number one goal is the food security of Tomsk Oblast, the oil and gas and forestry region. Belarus has recently reached high results in its agricultural development, and not only from the viewpoint of technology and science, but also from the angle of production and labor culture. We need this experience,” noted Andrei Knorr. He stressed that the members of the delegation also paid attention to eco-tourism, things related to hunting and fishing services, harvesting and processing of wild plants.

“We have a lot of old facilities that can be reconstructed. Here, we are highly interested in the Belarusian experience,” noted Andrei Knorr.

The Deputy Governor of Tomsk Oblast said that the region is in the middle of the program to upgrade the agricultural industry. “Belarusian equipment, including that made in Grodno Oblast, is in demand in our region. During the visit we are set to visit several enterprises. By the way, we buy Belarusian forestry equipment as well,” Andrei Knorr said. He stressed that Tomsk Oblast is a forest region and needs to learn more from the Belarusian experience in forest management, forest protection, and careful use of resources.

The delegation of Russia's Tomsk Oblast is in Grodno Oblast on an official visit on 9-11 October.
