Russia's Rostov-on-Don to host Youth for Union State festival 13-18 September

MINSK, 4 September (BelTA) – The 12th edition of the international festival Youth for the Union State will take place in Rostov-on-Don on 13-18 September, BelTA learned from the BRSM Youth Union.

The official opening ceremony is due to take place at the Gorky Rostov Academic Drama Theater on 14 September. The program of the forum will include a competition among youth song performers, a meeting with students, a youth concert relay along the cities of Rostov Oblast.

According to the BRSM Youth Union, the festival will feature an open dialogue on whether it is easy to be young. The event will be held as part of a meeting of the commission on social policy, science, culture and humanitarian issues of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. The discussions will be joined by representatives of the legislative and executive bodies, public youth associations of the two countries. At the youth recuperation camp Sputnik the participants of the festival will meet with their peers, who have came together for the regional youth forum Young Wave. The Future of the Don.

Taking part in the festival is the creative youth, young journalists and participants of the youth movements in Belarus and Russia. The BRSM noted that the forum is aimed at assisting the development of the common cultural space of the Union State, strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between the youth of Belarus and Russia. Among its goals is also the popularization of the best ideas in the area of the modern youth movement and the establishment of cooperation between student youth teams and associations.

The festival is founded by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, the Union State Permanent Committee and the BRSM Youth Union.
