Russian ZiO-Podolsk sends more equipment to Belarusian nuclear power plant

MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) – The Russian company ZiO-Podolsk (part of Atomenergomash, which is the mechanical engineering division of the Russian state corporation Rosatom) has sent on its way components of SPP-1200 separator superheaters for the second power-generating unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, BelTA has learned.

This batch of equipment weighs a total of 50 tonnes. This year apart from components for the second unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant ZiO-Podolsk has also made four sets of SPP-1200 separator superheaters. The first two sets are being prepared for shipment to the Belarusian nuclear power plant.

Atomenergomash enterprises make virtually all the critical equipment for the Belarusian nuclear power plant, which features a VVER-1200 reactor plant. The equipment includes reactors and core catchers, piping, steam generators (made by AEM-Technology), main circulating pumps, regular pumps, cooling systems, auxiliary equipment for the machinery room, and other things.

The Belarusian nuclear power plant will have two power-generating units of the Russian VVER-1200 design with the total output capacity of up to 2,400MW. The standard Russian nuclear power plant design AES-2006 has been chosen for building Belarus' first nuclear power plant. It is a 3+ generation design that boasts improved performance parameters and is compliant with post-Fukushima safety norms as well as requirements stipulated by environmental protection laws, sanitary and hygienic regulations.

Based in Podolsk, Moscow Oblast, ZiO-Podolsk is a major manufacturer of sophisticated heat exchange equipment for fuel and energy infrastructure installations such as nuclear and heat power plants, oil and gas industry enterprises.
