Russian MPs to attend Unity Day celebrations in Minsk

MOSCOW, 1 April (BelTA) – A Russian parliament delegation will arrive in Minsk on 4 April to take part in the events to celebrate the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia, BelTA learned from the press service of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State.

The delegation will be led by Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Federation, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly Yuri Vorobyov. It will also comprise Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Alexander Romanovich and member of the State Duma Committee on Agriculture Svetlana Maksimova.

The Russian MPs will attend a solemn event at the Belarusian State Philharmonics. The concert will feature the State Dance Company of Belarus, soloists of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater Maria Petrova, Oksana Volkova, Vladimir Petrov, and Igor Ivanov, the vocal group Classic-Avantgarde, the bands Syabry and Clear Voice, People's Artist of Belarus Nikolai Skorikov, People's Artist of Russia Alexander Marshal, Honored Artists of Belarus Irina Dorofeyeva, Alyona Lanskaya and Viktoria Aleshko, Ruslan Alekhno, Alexei Gross, Yulia Kovalchuk, and others.

On 4 April, a celebration concert will be held at the Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army in Moscow. Attending the event will be Russian and Belarusian MPs, politicians, public officials, and people of art. Speaker of the Russian State Duma, Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State Sergei Naryshkin is expected to attend the concert.

An official delegation of the National Assembly of Belarus led by Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Viktor Guminsky will visit Moscow to take part in celebrations. The delegation will comprise Deputy Chairman of the Permanent Commission for Legislation and State-Building of the Council of the Republic Yevgeny Koreshkov and Chairman of the Permanent Commission for Labor and Social Affairs of the House of Representatives Vladimir Vasilenko.

The concert will feature the Tchaikovsky State Academic Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra conducted by People's Artist of the USSR Vladimir Fedoseyev. In the second half of the concert, the orchestra will be conducted by People's Artist of Belarus Alexander Anisimov.

“The annual celebrations of the Day of Unity attest to the solidarity of the two brotherly nations and willingness to strengthen cooperation based on centuries-old friendship and strong cultural and spiritual ties,” the press service said.
