Russian Emergencies Ministry to buy Belarusian hazmat suits

MINSK, 21 July (BelTA) – The Russian Emergencies Ministry intends to buy chemical suits of Belarusian design and manufacturing, BelTA learned from Belarusian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Vashchenko on 21 July.

The official said: “We've come up with a substitute for the expensive chemical suits that we used to buy in Germany. It turned out very well. The quality is as good while the price is more affordable. Our Russian colleagues are already interested in the suit and intend to buy it.”

Belarusian specialists constantly work to make new kinds of gear for fire fighters. “We make protective suits of all classes. Belarusian enterprises make heat-reflecting suits. We have designed suits to protect people against stinging insects. Our enterprises also make footwear, for instance, boots that protect from shocks and punctures. New headgear is being developed,” said the Emergencies Minister.

Apart from wearable gear the Emergencies Ministry continues working to design new vehicles, including those based on MAZ chassis. Several prototypes of various kinds are now being tested.
