Russian archives to help Belarusian investigators with genocide case

MINSK, 25 January (BelTA) – The Federal Archive Agency, which reports to the president of the Russian Federation, has expressed readiness to provide assistance to an investigation team of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

The Prosecutor General's Office has received information about arrays of documents concerning the commitment of crimes by the Nazi and their accomplices against civilians in Belarus during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and in the post-war period. These documents are stored in the Russian state military archive, the state archive of the Russian Federation, the Russian state archive of social and political history as well as the Russian state archive of phonodocuments and the Russian state archive of video and photo documents.

The subordinate federal archives have been instructed to provide assistance to the investigation team of the Prosecutor General's Office in matters concerning the detection and collection of information and copies of archive documents, representatives of the Prosecutor General's Office said.
