Russia completes ratification of agreement on visa-free entry for Minsk European Games fans

MOSCOW, 13 February (BelTA) – The upper house of the Russian parliament, the Federation Council, ratified the Belarusian-Russian intergovernmental agreement on certain issues related to the entry of foreign nationals and stateless persons attending international sport events on 13 February, BelTA has learned.

On 12 February, the document was ratified by the State Duma of Russia.

The agreement was signed in Minsk on 29 May 2018. The document regulates the entry of foreign nationals and stateless persons traveling to attend international sporting events, including the forthcoming 2nd European Games, State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Grigory Karasin of the Russian Federation said as he presented the document in the parliament. The document was temporarily applied during the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

In accordance with the agreement, foreign nationals and stateless persons traveling to attend international sporting events in one of the two states can enter, exist, stay and transit through the territory of the other state without visas on an authentic ID and a document to attend such international sports events.

The agreement will be valid through 10 July 2019. The 2nd European Games will take place in Minsk on 21-30 June.
