Renowned AIDS activists honored with Belarusian state awards

MINSK, 27 October (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko gave state awards to renowned AIDS activists. The head of state signed a corresponding decree on 26 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

In recognition of many-year productive cooperation with Belarus, a big personal contribution to the implementation of international healthcare projects, HIV/AIDS and TB national programs the Medals of Francysk Skaryna were conferred on Mark Dybul, Executive Director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, and Michel Sidibe, Executive Director of the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations.
