Preparations for Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018 discussed in Minsk

MINSK, 18 January (BelTA) – Eurovision Executive Supervisor Jon Ola Sand discussed preparations for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with the organizers in Minsk on 18 January, the press service of the Belarusian State Television and Radio Company told BelTA.

Jon Ola Sand was in Belarus on a working visit. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) representative had a number of meetings where preparations for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018, which will take place in Minsk, were discussed.

Jon Ola Sand met with Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vasily Zharko. He also visited the sport facility Minsk Arena, which is considered as one of the possible venues for the song contest.

Jon Ola Sand met with Chairman of the Belarusian State Television and Radio Company Gennady Davydko, department heads, and the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018 art group.

Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian State Television and Radio Company Ivan Eismont said that the company started preparing for the contest back in 2017. “It is the first time the current supervisor of the contest has come to visit us. Today we've discussed the agreement that we and the European Broadcasting Union will sign as well as financial, organizational, and creative matters. It was the first on-site meeting but such visits will be more regular later on. In February we will welcome representatives of the Eurovision supervisory board. Those are heads of the delegations of six participating countries and top EBU executives. We are going to discuss in detail the organization of the final stage of the song contest.”

The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018 will take place in Belarus in November. All the events of the contest will be organized and coordinated by the Belarusian State Television and Radio Company as the country's only member of the European Broadcasting Union.
