BREST, 11 December (BelTA) — Representatives of travel agencies from 18 Polish cities are set to visit Brest Oblast on a familiarization tour on 11-13 December, head of the tourism sector of the sport and tourism department of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Denis Nikityuk told BelTA.
Tour operators from Warsaw, Wroclaw, Otwock, Kalisz, Radom, Konin and 12 other cities will come to get familiar with the tourism potential of the south-western region of Belarus. “A familiarization tour is organized to attract the attention of major tour operators in Poland to new routes and opportunities for recreation in Brest Oblast, which have been developed after the signing of Decree No.300 to expand the visa-free zone and the duration of visa-free stay. The event is aimed at the development of a new regular route for tourists from the western regions of Poland,” Denis Nikityuk said.
Belarusian specialists are set to discuss with their Polish counterparts the trends in the tourism market, bilateral relations, including the prospects for increasing tourist flow to Brest Oblast. The guests will be showed the tourist programs of the region. They will also learn about the new rules of visa-free stay for foreigners. The business program will be combined with excursions. In Brest representatives of the Polish travel agencies will be offered to walk along the Sovetskaya street and watch a lantern lighting ceremony in the evening. They will also be invited to see the exposition of the Nemtsevich Estate Museum, to visit the Brest Hero Fortress Memorial and the Berestye archeological museum. On the way to Belovezhskaya Pushcha they will visit St. Cross Elevation Church in Vistychy agro-town and the Trinity Church in Chernavchitsy.
“The tourist flow can be increased only in close cooperation between business and the authorities. This give an opportunity to address any emerging issues promptly, jointly conduct a marketing policy and design new tour products. For more efficient cooperation the Belarusian and Polish sides have agreed to sign a memorandum of long-term cooperation,” Denis Nikityuk said.
Since the start of 2019 Brest Oblast has been visited by more than 30,000 visa-free tourists, some 70% of them are Polish nationals.
