Plans to set up science and technology support centers in Belarus

MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) -There are plans to set up science and technology support centers in Belarus, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology Anatoly Silchenko said during the Business Ideas Forum, BelTA has learned.

“Proposals have been made to establish science and technology support centers, in particular in Brest Oblast. They may be branches of the science and technology parks or the National Center for Technologies Transfer. These centers will give an opportunity to get access to all international patent databases,” Anatoly Silchenko said.

He noted that the goal of the Business Ideas Forum is to identify the problems that arise during the sale of innovative products or commercialization of innovations. “It is important for us to understand the difficulties and to know where to concentrate the efforts to overcome them. We will discuss the assistance and the services that the State Committee on Science and Technology can provide. One of such service is the assistance with the search for patent information,” Anatoly Silchenko said.

According to him, the State Committee on Science and Technologies is now working to reduce the patent fees. “We are aware of this problem. A resolution on this is being drafted,” Anatoly Silchenko added.

The Business Ideas Forum is part of the Belarusian Industrial Forum. It has been organized by the State Committee on Science and Technology and the Expoforum company.
