Plans for new transplantology center in Belarus

MINSK, 21 August (BelTA) – A new transplantology center will be set up in Belarus, BelTA learned from Head of the National Research Center for Organ and Tissue Transplantation Oleg Rummo.

“The head of state took a decision for a new surgical clinic, a center of organ and tissue transplantology. It will make part of the Minsk Center of Surgery, Transplantology and Hematology,” said Oleg Rummo.

According to the head of the National Research Center for Organ and Tissue Transplantation, the center will include operating, intensive care and emergency rooms.

Funds for the construction of the center will be allocated in equal shares from the city budget and the national budget. It is too early to talk about the commissioning date or the final cost of the project, said Oleg Rummo.

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko instructed to look into the feasibility of building a new center during a visit to the research center currently operating at Minsk City Clinical Hospital No. 9 in February this year.
