Personnel of Belarus President Administration to be reduced by 30%

MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) – The optimization in the Belarus President Administration will affect 30% of employees, Head of the Belarus President Administration Natalya Kochanova told reporters after the session held by the head of state on 6 February, BelTA informs.

“These issues have been considered. The number of civil servants working in the Belarus President Administration will be reduced by 30%. The Belarus President Administration is not big: the number of employees will be reduced to 108,” Natalya Kochanova said.

She remarked that the task to optimize personnel numbers is always difficult because this process affects the lives of people. Therefore, in this case the personnel number will be reduced as workers retire. We will help other people get jobs at other organizations and institutions where such workers will be required.

The optimization and improvement of work are, first of all, aimed at the efficient fulfillment of tasks which should play a major role in the Belarus President Administration. “First, this is the work with people's petitions, the work of president's aides in regions. Responsibility, performance discipline, the work with people have been in the center of attention of the head of state today,” Natalya Kochanova noted.

The optimization of the Belarus President Administration should be carried out starting from 1 May when a corresponding decree will enter into force, the head of the Belarus President Administration said. This is just the first step in the process to reduce the number of civil servants in the country. “The government and all public administration bodies in Belarus are doing the same. The preparation of the decree on optimization is in progress. It will specify the percent of reduction in other state bodies, republican and local authorities,” she said. In her words, the issue of optimization in local administrations remains undetermined. The government suggests preserving the number of personnel in district and oblast executive committees.

“We believe that in order to raise salaries in all national and local government bodies, we need to optimize virtually all organizations and institutions,” Natalya Kochanova added.
