Patriotic motor rally to unite cities of Belarus, Russia

VITEBSK, 19 July (BelTA) – Participants of the international patriotic motor rally Roads of War. Roads of Peace. Roads of Memory will visit more than ten cities of Belarus and Russia, BelTA learned from the department of ideology, culture and youth affairs of the Gorodok District Executive Committee.

The event will kick off in Smolensk on 19 July to finish on 22 July. Its participants will visit Russian cities and also Belarusian Gorodok, Vitebsk, Orsha, Dubrovno, Mogilev and Gomel which have military memorials and burials.

The number of participants of the patriotic motor rally increases every year. The number of cities they visit also regularly expands. The program of the motor rally will also include a mobile same-name exhibition, meetings with veterans, the youth, authorities and public organizations.

“On 20 July the guests will arrive in Yezerishche to lay flowers at the grave of Commander of the 159th separate armored brigade Colonel Semyon Khaidukov. The motor rally will then travel to Gorodok where a flower ceremony and a memorial service will take place near the monument to the 10th guard armored brigade that liberated the city. Words of welcome will be offered by Chairman of the Gorodok District Executive Committee Piotr Korobach and head of the National and Cultural Autonomy of Belarusians of Smolensk Oblast Sergei Krivko,” representatives of the department said.

There are plans to expand the mobile exhibition and publish the Atlas of Memory.

The motor rally is organized by the National and Cultural Autonomy of Belarusians of Smolensk Oblast.
