Over 3 million Belarusians take part in National Clean-Up Day

MINSK, 22 April (BelTA) - More than 3 million Belarusians have taken part in the National Clean-Up Day, Deputy Prime Minister Vasily Zharko told reporters, BelTA has learned.

“As of 12.00pm, more than 3 million of Belarusian took part in the National Clean-Up Day. According to preliminary estimates, more than Br7,800 million will be raised during the clean-up day. This is more than in 2016”, Vasily Zharko said.

Vasily Zharko noted that the clean-up day is held in workplaces and also at sites of historical and cultural heritage, in parks, villages and towns. “Part of the funds (50%) remains at the disposal of the Finance Ministry, the remaining funds - at the disposal of the regional authorities. The money will be spent on the reconstruction and restoration of historical and cultural heritage, the development of the infrastructure of the children and youth art institutions, on the innovative infrastructure, preparation of children's recreation and sports camps for the summer season.

Vasily Zharko planted trees in the alley in the Central Botanical Garden. “Holding a clean-up day is a good tradition which we have preserved since the Soviet times. It unites the Belarusians,” Vasily Zharko said.
