Orlenok to host Union State cadets' camp

MINSK, 8 August (BelTA) – A military-patriotic camp for students of the Suvorov military schools of Belarus and Russia will take place in the All-Russia children's center Orlenok on 9-29 August, BelTA learned from the press service of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.

The camp will be official opened on 11 August. Taking part in it will be 381 cadets of Belarus and Russia. The students will march in a parade and raise the national flags of Belarus and Russia over the camp. The event will be attended y Chairman of the PA Commission on Security, Defense and Crime Prevention, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives' Permanent Commission on National Security Valery Gaidukevich.

“The Day of the Union State will be celebrated in the camp on 18 August. The cadets will organize presentations of their schools and a concert. They will also take part in a tree planting campaign in the center,” the press service said. The closing ceremony on 28 August will be attended by member of the PA Commission on Security, Defense and Crime Prevention, member of the House of Representatives' Permanent Commission on National Security Piotr Atroshchenko.

The military-patriotic camp for students of the Suvorov military schools of the Union State is an annual event, which was first held in 2007 under the initiative of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State. Its goal is to foster patriotism and a civil position among the Union State youth, respect to the history of the brotherly peoples of Belarus and Russia. The program envisages events to develop intellectual, creative and leadership potential among teenagers and also a culture of a healthy lifestyle. More than RUB26 million was allocated from the Union State budget to organize the camp in 2017.
