Opinion: Belt and Road initiative contributes to humanitarian exchange

DUNHUANG, 19 September (BelTA) – The Belt and Road initiative contributes to an intensive humanitarian exchange and the strengthening of cultural and human contacts, Renmin Ribao President Yang Zhenwu said at the opening ceremony of the Media Cooperation Forum on Belt and Road in Dunhuang, Gansu Province, China on 19 September, BelTA has learned.

“Mass media have a big influence on the implementation of the Belt and Road large-scale project that covers a lot of important spheres. The Chinese newspaper Renmin Ribao does its best to expand the scope of media friends. We are interested in further development of the information partnership, the creation of mutually beneficial information platforms and the distribution of joint reports and other media products. Our media forums, which have already become traditional, help find new ideas and cooperation growth,” stressed Yang Zhenwu.

He stressed that the initiative put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013 has already been producing results. This global international cooperation benefits not only China but also many other countries located along the new Silk Road.

“It is of high importance that all the suggested projects and joint steps have concrete goals and take into account the interests of a wide range of participants. That is why they have success,” the media expert added.

The Media Cooperation Forum on Belt and Road, organized by the Chinese newspaper Renmin Ribao, gathered in Dunhuang over 300 delegates from about 250 mass media outlets of different countries.
