OPCW specialists undergo training at Belarus' University of Civil Protection

MINSK, 24 May (BelTA) – Representatives of eight countries that are members of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) have received training at the University of Civil Protection of the Emergencies Ministry of Belarus, BelTA learnt from the ministry.

An integrated training course “Protection Against Chemical Weapons” was completed by 12 specialists from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Lebanon, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine. The training was held at the university's branch near Borisov. Among the lecturers was OPCW's expert Albert Kireyev of Russia. The training was audited by OPCW's Senior Assistance and Protection Officer Shahriar Khateri representing the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The chemical protection training course for instructors included theoretical and practical aspects of protection against chemical weapons. The training course also touched upon personnel training issues.
