MINSK, 21 September (BelTA) – The General Federation of Oman Trade Unions (GFOTU) is interested in developing cooperation with the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FTUB) in various areas and, first of all, in trade union education, GFOTU Chairman Nabhan Al Battashi said at the meeting with Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus Mikhail Orda, BelTA learnt from the FTUB press service.
“Our organization is relatively young. It was founded in 2006. Today we need assistance in personnel training and the exchange of experience with counterparts from other countries. One of the areas that are of key interest for us is the training of specialists in jurisprudence, trade union activity, establishing social dialogue,” the GFOTU Chairman said. The Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus has a rich experience here. The FTUB international university MITSO trains foreign trade union activists. Special programs can be developed for the Omani side, if there is a mutual agreement.
The FTUB Chairman apprised the guests of the trade union movement in the country, the activity of Belarusian trade unions in protecting the rights and interests of workers, and also such areas of work as grassroots sports popularization and the creation of conditions for rest and recuperation. “The trade union movement in Belarus is more than 110 years old. Over the time the country has accumulated rich experience in trade union activity. We are also ready to share our best practices with our counterparts from other countries. We are also interested in adopting the best practices from our partners,” noted Mikhail Orda.
At the end of the meeting the parties agreed on further mutual contacts to work on the issues of cooperation in social partnership, young policy and international cooperation, investment in the development of the social infrastructure of the Federation of Trade Unions. In April 2017 the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus will host an international conference on decent work. It is expected that taking part in the event will be trade unions of 30 countries. Omani representatives also expressed readiness to attend the forum.
