MINSK, 23 February (BelTA) – MINSK, 23 February (BelTA) – A solemn wreath ceremony took place at the Victory Memorial in Minsk to mark the Fatherland Defenders Day and the 100th anniversary of the Armed Forces of Belarus, BelTA informs.

Taking part in the ceremony were representatives of the Defense Ministry led by Minister Andrei Ravkov, First Deputy Head of the Belarus President's Administration Maksim Ryzhenkov, Deputy Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Marianna Shchetkina, representatives of other agencies, public organizations, war veterans and foreign guests.

According to Chairman of the Minsk city branch of the Belarusian public association of veterans, retired Major-General Anatoly Adonyev, such holidays as the Fatherland Defenders Day and the 100th anniversary of the Armed Forces is an indication that Belarus honors the veterans at the highest level. “As we celebrate this great date – the 100th anniversary of the Armed Forces, our hearts rejoice because the feat of the veterans has not been forgotten. This suggests that the younger generation honors the feat and is ready to defend our homeland, as we were. We want to have peace and tranquility, we want our happiness to be protected by our motherland. We are very grateful to the president who has been leading our country confidently on the path of independence. Therefore, I would like to wish Happy Fatherland Defenders Day to all the veterans, residents of the capital and the country,” Anatoly Adonyev said.
